Platinotron, Amplitron, Crossed-field amplifier (CFA) Example MIU51. The crossed-field amplifier, also known as an Amplitron or Platinotron is a wideband microwave amplifier which can also be used as an oscillator. Similar to a magnetron the beam is perpendicular to the magnetic field, thus it is a crossed-field device.
